By thompson (formerly Chillology) was founded in 2019 by me Dacia Thompson, and over the past 6 years, I have pivoted this “brand” from a digital lifestyle concept space, to a tea and crepe pop-up, and now permanently, a bespoke, space, both online and in person, sharing a thoughtful collection of loose-leaf teas, Jamaican Honey and Jamaican coffee brought stateside, and home goods that are all created to inspire slower moments at home. I aim to promote simple nutrition by way of teas, tisanes, and pantry staples sourced by me, for you. Sweet Dreams are made of teas!
The Story
I founded this space because I was over with and felt burned out on the wellness & beauty industry (and still am). From diet culture to 10 step beauty routines, to the next new diet trend and entitlement, I’ve had it. I wanted to go back to a time where an aspect of our daily bodily nourishment was simple, fun and easily approached. A platform that offers products that are inclusive of all types of lifestyles knowing that though we all have 24hrs in a day, our 24hrs all look different, because of where we are in life. Saying no to unattainable standards and 0% shame, steering away from wellness as a business and an industry and focusing on wellness as it concerns our personal and individual lives (and our tastebuds). I also wanted goods that were universal to everyone and one thing that most humans have as part of their daily routine is a cup of tea.
As a native of Jamaica, I grew on herbs (bush tea as we call it back home), from peppermint, lemongrass, and soursop leaves to bitter herbs. When I migrated to the US and dived more into the culture of tea, I fell in love. In love with the tea plant, its history, the culture and the different teas I came to know and now enjoy on a daily basis. I am also a big homebody, who enjoys being home until it’s time to travel, or get up to a planned weekend outing. As such, I enjoy a quiet home that is filled with the things I love.
Tea, the most popular beverage in the world, is an age old remedy for personal and social wellbeing. Through tea, we mark time, create stories, and most of all, discover + nurture & maintain our human connection with each other and with nature.

Hand-poured candles - I make all candles at home, again, in small batches, based on customer and retail demands.
I’m a person of routine, and as such, I am an advocate for sacred routines and savoring life. In this ever-growing busy world that we live in, here at By Thompson, one of my missions is to get you to slow down a little to not just savor life, but to reconnect with yourself. Just the simple act of brewing your morning tea encourages you to slow down. This gives you an hour of your day to be one with yourself, to catch your breath, and set your intentions for the day.
2. Fun, movement and misinformation free zone - I believe that taking care of our bodies shouldn’t seem like a chore, but that wellness should be fun, functional for each person, and easy to approach. It should never be about trends, grifts or making health claims that are false, just to make a sale. Wellness is so much more about the simple approaches to everyday care of us than the frills and fluff and the overconsumption of different fad products to make you look and feel good in your body. As a Clinical Scientist Student, I study the intricacies of the body and know that most of what we worry about are handled by our body, without us having to think about it. Tea, when added to our health promoting daily lifestyle, aids in our quality of living.
3. My contribution to the environment - the teas are grown, harvested and processed by small, independent family farmers & cultivators and herbalists from the major tea producing countries. By doing this, we are supporting the livelihood of those in a lower economy. Loose leaf teas also minimize/eradicate waste that comes from traditional tea bags. I ensure to limit our waste production by using packaging that can be upcycled or recycled like our tea canisters and glass containers used for our powders, and candles.
Offering refills for each tea so that instead of throwing canisters away after your tea is finished, you can order a refill pouch and put it right back into the canister. My candle vessel and honey jar return program allows customers to mail me back their jars once they’re finished with the product inside, for a refill and 10% off any future purchase.
Avec amour et thé/With love & tea, Dacia.
